Our union seeks to improve members’ professional and industrial knowledge and skills, offering a range of conferences hosted by the Centre for Professional Learning and our Trade Union Training section.

We offer Beginning Teacher Conferences aimed at members who are in their first few years of teaching. Content includes accreditation, planning, programming and differentiation, classroom management and Aboriginal education. These conferences are held at a number of locations throughout the state.

Our annual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Members Conference is open to all financial Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander members of Federation.

The New Activist Conference is held annually for teachers in their first five years of teaching (or first 10 years if they hold a Federation position) who are interested in becoming more active within our union.

Centre for Professional Learning

The Secondary English Conference provides a wealth of inspiring, resource-rich and evidence-based practical approaches to teaching reading and writing from Year 7 to Year 12.

Other Conferences

Date: Saturday 9 March 2024

This One-Day Conference is for Teachers Federation Members to come together and develop the skills to organise for Climate Action in local communities and workplaces.  

Teachers Federation recognises the current climate emergency and the importance of taking action to ensure that our teachers, students and families have a safe and healthy environment to live and learn in. 

The Conference will provide participants with an overview of the curriculum requirements to incorporate Sustainability as a priority for study, as well as the supports that can be accessed to make our workplaces more sustainable.  

Keynote Speaker Craig Reucassel will speak to his experiences engaging with schools to improve sustainability measures and educating around sustainability and the climate emergency on the ABC’s War on Waste and Fight for Planet A.
