Location: Teachers Federation House, Mary Street, Surry Hills - Trade Union Training (TUT) meeting room (level 1)

Zoom will be available for those unable to attend in person.

The Peace, Environment and International Issues Special Interest Group meets once per term at Federation House to engage members in social justice and environmental campaign matters. All members are welcome. For those unable to attend in person, teleconference facilities are available.

Guest speakers are invited to speak on topics ranging from coal seam gas, Climate Action Network and Cuban Fellowship. There is an email group that members may join to receive minutes. All resolutions must be endorsed by Federation executive.

Members also support the Hiroshima Day Committee and various affiliated groups such as Anti-Bases Coalition, Australian Fair Trade Network, Friends of the Earth, Nature Conservation Council, National Parks Association, People for Nuclear Disarmament, Sydney Peace and Justice Coalition and Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA.

Kelly Marks is the Federation officer attached to the Special Interest Group, to facilitate the running of meetings.

“Sustainability” is one of the three cross Australian curriculum priorities that is incorporated in all NSW syllabuses. (the other ones are Aboriginal perspectives, and Australia’s role in the Asian region).
