Federation successfully launched the Sport SIG in Term 3, 2020.
SIGs are not decision-making bodies of the union. Members of the Sport SIG will offer Federation valuable information about what is happening in schools and the Department in relation to sport, physical activity, curriculum delivery, professional learning and other sport-related issues. This can help shape Federation policy and response to these matters. Any recommendation from the Sport SIG will go to the NSW Teachers Federation Executive for a decision.
Sport SIG meetings will be held once a term (either at Federation House with technology facilities available for our remote colleagues, or via Zoom if circumstances require this). An agenda will be sent out prior to each meeting and members will assist in determining the items to be addressed. Minutes will be distributed to registered members after each meeting.
The Officers attached to the Sport SIG are Mandy Wells and Julie Moon. They have responsibility for facilitating the work of the SIG, including meetings, minutes of meetings and actioning recommendations or correspondence. The Officers attached are the main contact point at Federation for broad issues affecting teachers in regards to sport, physical activity or curriculum/sport event issues and concerns.
Federation’s Sport SIG welcomes new members.
To join the Sport SIG or contact the officers attached, please phone 1300 654 369 or (02) 9217 2100 or email sportsig@nswtf.org.au
