TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers in TAFE Children’s Centres Enterprise Agreement 2024

Vote YES

Federation recommends that members vote YES to support this Enterprise Agreement (EA) as it provides for:

  1. An EA duration of one year, nominally expiring on 31 January 2025.
  2. An increase of 4% (based on 2023 salaries) to salaries and allowances, back-paid to the first full pay period (FFPP) on or after 1 February 2024.
  3. Consolidation of the dual salary scales for 3 Year Trained Teachers and 4 Year Trained Teachers into a single salary scale, with no teacher being disadvantaged by the transition.
  4. Clarifying the definition of “Early Childhood Teacher” to confirm that both a teaching qualification recognised by the regulator (ACECQA) and teacher accreditation for Early Childhood Education with NESA are required.
  5. Incorporating provisions around mandatory training (including training in First Aid, Anaphylaxis and CPR) ensuring that it must be provided by TAFE NSW or, in the alternative, teachers will be reimbursed by TAFE NSW for the cost of the training by an external provider and be provided release time.
  6. Creating a new allowance for either a Teacher or Director undertaking the role of a Children’s Centre’s Education Leader, with 2 hours per week release time. The role is to lead the development and implementation of educational programs in the Centre. The value of the allowance is above that of the modern award by $570pa, at $4,823.78.
  7. Consolidating the teacher salary and allowance into an all-inclusive salary rate for Early Childhood Directors. Further, ensuring that Early Childhood Directors must have early childhood education teaching qualifications and teacher accreditation.
