CFMEU calls national day of action on Tuesday 20 June

The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) is staging a National Day of Action in Sydney on Tuesday 20 June and Federation officers will attend the Sydney rally to show union support for the campaign.

‘Enough is Enough: Stop the Attack on Workers’ rallies will be held at 11am at:

  • Belmore Park, Sydney; and
  • Pound Street, Grafton.

This is the second national day of action called by the CFMEU this year, following a previous round of rallies in March.

The June rallies, to be held all over Australia, call on workers to stand up and fight back against a range of issues, including cuts to Sunday penalty rates for retail and hospitality workers, the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC), wage cuts by employers and the exploitation of overseas workers.

From July 1, Sunday and public holiday penalty rates will be cut for full-time and part-time workers in the hospitality, fast food and retail industries.

The rallies will be held in all capital cities in Australia on June 20 and also in Grafton.
