Federation Joins Fair Day Fun

There was something for everyone at Federation’s stall at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Fair Day on Sunday.

The stall gave community members the opportunity to come and talk to our volunteers and learn more about Federation’s work and campaigns.

Visitors were invited to sign petitions for the Stop TAFE Cuts and We Won’t Wait (domestic violence) campaigns, and were offered leaflets on LGBTIQ resources for teachers and students plus information about our LGBTIQ Special Interest Group for teachers.

A badge-maker was available for Fair Day-goers to make their own badges.

Callers to the stall included teachers from rural and remote NSW, who were visiting Sydney for the day, to local students coming to say hello to their teachers, who were volunteering on the stall.

This was the 8th time Federation has hosted a stall at Fair Day, the opening event for the Mardi Gras festival.

Fair Day is a family-friendly day of stalls, food and entertainment celebrating the diversity of the LGBTIQ community.
Federation will be marching in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade on Saturday 3 March.
