Fair Funding Now! campaign to hit the road

In early 2019, the Fair Funding Now! campaign will embark on a national van tour aimed at highlighting the differences between the major parties when it comes to schools funding.

The national van tour will provide a backdrop for school visits, community campaign events and other actions across Australia in the lead up to the federal election scheduled to take place in the first half of the year.

Federation President Maurie Mulheron said it is hoped the van will be a drawcard in regional towns as much as it will be in the metropolitan areas and targeted seats.

“The vans have always been welcomed when we have visited country areas. Country students stand to benefit immensely from the additional funding announced by the federal opposition,” Mr Mulheron said.

“As a part of the van tour, we will be hosting special events in the federal seats of Banks, Gilmore, Page and Robertson.

“We will meet with communities, supporters and members right across NSW and also look forward to planning campaign events in border towns to the north in the Tweed, right through to Albury in the south.”

The federal opposition’s recent $14 billion dollar commitment to the nation’s public schools stands in stark contrast to the continued policy of the federal Coalition to underfund public schools in the nation.
