Courses teach fundamentals of workplace rep roles

Once you have decided to take on the role of Fed Rep or Women’s Contact at your workplace you are not on your own, Federation has a range of core courses to guide and support you through your role and its responsibilities.

Fundamentals for Federation Representatives and Women’s Contacts is a two-day course aimed at developing essential knowledge and skills for teachers elected by their colleagues to the honorary positions of school-based Federation Representative or Women’s Contact.

The course focuses on the skills to be able to engage in professional dialogue with colleagues and leaders in the school, and the ability to hold meetings and forums for members to exchange ideas and views.

Participants are also provided with information on departmental and government policies and procedures, including processes to address and follow up school-based issues.

The fundamentals course will be held again this semester on 20-21 May and 18-19 June, for Women only on 9-10 May and in Wagga Wagga on 27-28 May.

Members of workplace committees are eligible to apply and will be accepted should space be available.

Completing a Fundamentals for Federation Representatives and Women’s Contacts Course will contribute seven hours of NESA Registered professional development addressing 6.2.2, 7.2.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
