An understanding public commits to schools funding campaign activities

People from the far north coast of NSW have indicated they are ready to fight for what is right and just — true needs-based funding for every student in every public school.

Attendees travelled from Coffs Harbour, Grafton and even from the neighbouring electorate of Cowper to attend the Fair Funding Community Forum for the Page electorate, held in Woolgoolga.

The community responded because they understand that our public school students deserve a fully resourced education and that this Coalition Government has turned its back on public schools.

Forum attendees listened intently and wanted to know more about how they could help the campaign for Fair Funding Now! for public schools.

They committed to getting out into their communities and letting everyone know the importance of putting public education first when people vote at the federal election. They committed to handing out leaflets, door-knocking and having one-on-one conversations about fair funding for public schools.

Speakers included Federation Senior Vice President Henry Rajendra, Labor Senator Kristina Keneally, Labor candidate for Page Patrick Deegan and Greens candidate for Page Daniel Reid.
