Join the Palm Sunday Peace Rally for Refugees

This year’s Palm Sunday Peace Rally for Refugees will call on the Federal Government to offer permanent protection and the chance of family reunion to all refugees and those seeking asylum.

The rally, to be held on Sunday 5 April, will commence at Belmore Park from 2pm.

Members, their families and communities are urged to attend the rally and show that we are prepared to stand up for refugees and reject the racist government policies affecting so many.

The theme for the Palm Sunday Rally this year is “Justice, Peace, Unity”, with the main message being “It’s time for Australia to end the torture of Nauru and PNG”.

Australia is obligated by the United Nations Convention to protect those seeking asylum and despite continued national and international condemnation, the inhumane treatment of asylum seekers and the vilification of refugees continues.

To show your support, members can:

  • advertise the rally in their workplace
  • attend the rally
  • tell the Government it’s time to end the mistreatment of refugees
  • tell the Government it’s time for a fair and just policy that maintains the health, dignity and respect of all who seek our protection.
