For a short time, Federation will be offering one term of free membership in a bid to encourage new members and build union density within workplaces.
Eligible members who join before Friday 25 June 2021 will automatically have the offer applied to their membership after joining via the website, over the phone or by completing a form.
The new member must commit to using a preferred method of fortnightly direct debit or credit card payments.
The 10 weeks free will be applied to a new membership after the first fortnightly contribution has been paid.
Recruitment conversations with early career teachers are an important action for all union members to pursue. Remember, recruitment is everyone’s responsibility.
This can vary between workplaces, but you can prepare for these conversations by asking potential members:
- When did you complete your study?
- At which workplaces did you gain professional experience?
- Were you a Future Teacher member of Federation while studying?
- What do you know about the union?
It can also be important to connect the early career teacher with the union experience at the workplace level, outlining Federation wins and how these are directly connected to teacher entitlements and improvements in professional conditions.
By introducing new teachers to Federation Representatives, Women’s Contacts and Workplace Committee Members you can emphasise the workplace support available to early career teachers through Federation.
The One Term Free membership offer is not a reason to join, however, it is an incentive to support new teachers to experience union membership. The offer is available to eligible new members who join the Federation through to Friday, 25 June, 2021.
