Unity — the way forward

Regardless of our differences, we all share a common humanity. To remind everyone of this, schools and TAFE campuses are encouraged to host events during Refugee Week (20–26 June) that promote harmony and togetherness.

Federation is a proud sponsor of the Refugee Council of Australia’s week of awareness, a national celebration that allows all to experience the rich diversity of refugee communities through theatre, music, dance, film, creative arts, and other special events held face to face and online.

This year’s theme is “Unity – The Way Forward”. Refugee Week is also an opportunity to help people understand the many challenges they face before, during and after their journeys here.

Federation encourages schools and TAFE colleges to teach about refugees and asylum seekers as well as explore the themes of persecution, displacement, journey, sacrifice, hope, courage and unity.

Lesson plans and ideas, an events calendar, reading list, FAQs about the refugee experience, podcasts, films, educational videos and more can be accessed at refugeeweek.org.au.
