Federation begins bargaining agreements for TAFE employees

After extensive advocacy by Federation, on 2 June 2022, TAFE NSW issued a Notice of Employee Representational Rights (NERR) for employees covered under the:

TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers and Related Employees Enterprise Agreement

and the

TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers in TAFE Children’s Centres Enterprise Agreement.

The NERR effectively signals the start of the bargaining process for replacement Enterprise Agreements for the employees covered under those agreements.

As members are well aware, years of Government funding cuts, privatisations and contestable funding settings have resulted in the loss of thousands of TAFE jobs and courses.

As a result, we have a serious skills shortage for key trades that can only be addressed by reinvesting and reinvigorating TAFE so we can train the tradespeople of the future.

The negotiations will include:

  • Defending employees’ working conditions
  • Ensuring job security
  • Seeking fairer wages and
  • more sustainable workloads

Returning TAFE to being the preeminent provider of vocational education and training is integral to this State’s future productivity and prosperity.

Therefore, it is important for members to keep up to date with the latest Federation news and advice during the bargaining process. You can do that by visiting www.www.nswtf.org.au.

It is also important to encourage potential members in your workplace to join the Federation so that they can also be kept up to date and have a greater involvement in the bargaining process. They can join the campaign by calling 1300 654 369 or emailing [email protected].
