National Reconciliation Week 27 May-3 June

Over many decades Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their allies have campaigned long and hard to address racism and injustice.

This year’s Reconciliation Week theme – Be a Voice for Generations – calls on all of us to work together to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation for the generations to come.

All Australians of voting age can contribute by voting yes at the referendum later this year, which proposes a Constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A Voice to Parliament will:

  • provide a fair go for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • result in better informed politicians and therefore better policies that will improve the quality of life of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in areas such as jobs, housing, health and literacy
  • bring our nation together
