Federation sponsors life-changing student scholarships

NSW Teachers Federation President Henry Rajendra, General Secretary Maxine Sharkey and Deputy President Amber Flohm in Sydney.

Congratulations to the recipients of Federation-sponsored scholarships at the Proudly Public! 2025 Awards, hosted by the Public Education Foundation.

The purpose of the scholarships is to remove barriers to achievement created by social and economic advantage.

The union sponsored:

  • four scholarships to support students during their time at primary school
  • four scholarships for refugee students, to support them in their final three years of secondary education
  • a scholarship for a refugee student, providing financial assistance for up to two years of full-time TAFE study.

Sixteen students who came first in an HSC subject were recognised for their achievements with NSW Teachers Federation Awards for HSC Excellence.

Federation President Henry Rajendra, General Secretary Maxine Sharkey and Deputy President Amber Flohm presented the scholarships at an awards night held in Sydney Town Hall earlier this week.
