By Henry Rajendra – NSW Teachers Federation President
The NSW Teachers Federation is the union representing public school teachers and principals right across New South Wales.
Representing the teaching profession, we uphold and fight for the right of every child, not just some, to realise their educational and social potential.
We uphold and fight for the right of every child, not just some, to be provided access to the full breadth of the curriculum.
This is especially so with respect to Arts education.
And this is where the dedication of our teachers and principals comes in to play and the success of Southern Stars for so many years. Decades in fact.
Their hard work and commitment, a lot of it drawn from their own personal time, is about upholding the importance of Arts education for our students.
And that’s why we are immensely proud to continue to be the Presenting Partner of Southern Stars.
Our students shine. They excel onstage and backstage. Their parents and families beam with pride from the stands. I have often seen tears of joy.
The Southern Stars comms team lighting up social media and our respective devices.
Southern Stars is an expression of what we uphold with respect to Arts education. It is a celebration of public education and all that we achieve together.
So thank you to all our teachers and principals. Simply, you make this happen. You make this real for our students.
And thank you to the participating schools. Especially those teachers that remain behind at school providing cover for ‘Stars’ teachers when they are doing ‘Stars’ things.
To our students, go get ‘em. Your talents and energy are infectious.
Many, many months have gone into your preparation.
We wish you all the very best with your performances.
Enjoy the show. See you all on the night.
