International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8 March 2017

International Women’s Day, on March 8, has been a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women for more than 100 years, and is now considered the strongest global call-to-action for accelerating gender parity.

Last year, organisations and individuals around the world supported the #PledgeForParity campaign, determined to challenge bias; call for gender-balanced leadership; value women’s and men’s contributions equally; and create inclusive flexible cultures. The World Economic Forum predicts the gender gap won’t close before 2186, so #IWD2017 wants us all to #BeBoldForChange – to join forces, and take bold, pragmatic action to fast-track gender equality.

The NSW Teachers Federation encourages members to take part in planned IWD activities, or register their own (internationalwomensday.com/Events) and send us details of your event to share with your fellow members: [email protected]
