Prairiewood High School principal Belinda Giudice has thanked Federation for playing an influential role throughout her career, after receiving a life-changing chance to study at Harvard.
Belinda and Michael Sloan, the Principal at Denison College of Secondary Education, Kelso Campus, are both principal members of Federation who have been awarded Harvard scholarships — from just three presented nationally by the Public Education Foundation — in recognition of their dedication and academic leadership.
My career has been strongly influenced and shaped by strong union members who have role modelled leadership with humanity, which means understanding what is possible with the support and advocacy of the profession,†Belinda said.
I have a deep passion and commitment for the role that public education plays in society and the longer I am in the profession, the more I understand the equity and social justice lens through which decisions are made.â€
Michael is similarly passionate about public education: To be a principal in a public school is truly a privilege, leading a team that enables opportunity for all young people no matter their background, or the social, emotional, or learning challenges they may face.
I am heartened by the Federation’s commitment and willingness to stand up for public education and fight for what public educators and public schools deserve.â€

Each Principals Scholarship is valued at approximately $16,000 and includes program tuition for one of two prestigious Harvard Graduate School of Education programs:
Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership; or
Leadership: An Evolving Vision.
