In celebration of the contribution of NSW TAFE teachers and their commitment to public education and their union, Federation is providing a $3000 TAFE Teacher Scholarship.
TAFE members who currently hold a Certificate IV or a qualification in a specific trade area only and wish to enrol in an accredited adult teacher education degree in NSW should apply.
Applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be a TAFE member of the NSW Teachers Federation and be enrolled in an accredited adult teacher education degree in NSW, or will be enrolled in 2025/2026*
- have completed year 12 (or equivalent) at a public school, or trade qualifications
- complete the application process including addressing, in writing, each of the appropriate sections in the application form and submitting a demonstration of understanding of the value of public adult education and the value of unions to society.
*In the event the Scholarship Committee decides on a candidate who has declared an intent to enrol during the years 2025 and 2026, the prize money will not be released until proof of successful enrolment has been provided. If the candidate is not enrolled before semester 1, 2026, the prize money will be awarded to the runner-up entry from the 2025 applicants.
Federation’s TAFE Teacher Scholarship Committee will award the scholarship to the application they feel best addresses the following criteria:
- commitment to public education in NSW
- demonstrated union activism
- commitment to teaching in TAFE.
As Federation seeks to assist as many aspiring TAFE teachers as possible, previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply.
